Happy Howl-idays!

It’s that time of year again. Thanksgiving is right around the corner and who doesn’t love a special holiday treat! It could be almost anything this time of year; the turkey, cranberry sauce, or a good ole’ slice of pumpkin pie (I’m a pecan pie lover myself). A lot of preparation and love goes into our Thanksgiving Feast all the while our furry friends are at our feet waiting for us to drop something scrumptious. We might all be tempted to feed our pet pals table scraps but here are a few things to think about and hopefully keep your family from taking a trip to the Pet Hospital this season.

Show Canine Compadres and Feline Friends you’re Thankful by:

Buying them store-bought treats this holiday season instead of tossing them a bone off the table. Store bought bones are safer for your pet. Table scraps might splinter and cause digestive problems for your pet, possible cutting the lining in their stomach. Check out Tails Pet Market in San Antonio for some local treats that are both healthy for your pet and also eco-friendly visit Tails Pet Market for more information.

Cutting up pieces of turkey especially for them. Make sure to take off any skin, and remove all the bones. Add this to your pets food for a nice safe treat. For cats try pureed turkey with pumpkin or sweet potatoes, you can add this to their food or let them lick it straight off the spoon.

Make your pet feel extra paw-fect by taking them to get all gussied up for the holidays. Everyone always feels better after a good shampoo and a trim. Have you checked out Wag-N-Tails Pet Resort in San Antonio for your pet grooming needs? They use all natural products to provide a safe environment for your pets. Wag-N-Tails Pet Resorts also offers doggie day-care so when you’re out doing your holiday shopping you can drop off your pet friends for a few hours of playtime.  Make sure to make an appointment get more information here Wag-N-Tails Pet Resort.

Toys, Toys, Toys Take a good look at those holiday pet toy specials. New interactive toys are all the rage, right now. These are the toys that dispense food as your pet plays with it, these are great to keep your pet entertained while you are tending to your two-legged guests. We bought our dog Lily one and she just loves it, she pushes her red ball around with her nose getting her “crunchies” out as she goes. Ryan at the Pet’s Barn Recommends stopping by and picking up a “Kong” which is a stuff-able toy your pet is sure to enjoy, great for cats and dogs. There are even “Kong Stuffing Recipes” to make your pet’s “Kong” experience even more enjoyable. Lily is a Peanut Butter nut so I think we must add it to the recipe below and make a Banana Nut Rama. Find this recipe and more at the Kong Company website.
